How We Rank Credit Cards

Our comparison considers these weighted factors:

  • Reward Value (35%): Effective reward rate as a percentage of spending
  • Annual Fee vs Benefits (25%): Whether the benefits justify the fee
  • Acceptance & Ease (15%): Approval difficulty and network acceptance
  • Additional Perks (15%): Lounge access, insurance, concierge, offers
  • Customer Service (10%): Dispute resolution, app quality, communication

Credit Card Golden Rule

ALWAYS pay your credit card bill in FULL before the due date. Credit card interest rates (24-42% per annum) are the highest among all financial products. One month of carrying a balance can eliminate an entire year of rewards earned.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best no-annual-fee credit card?

The Amazon Pay ICICI credit card is the best free-forever card with 5% cashback on Amazon, 2% on partner merchants, and 1% on all other spends. Axis ACE offers 2% flat cashback on everything with fee waiver on annual spending of Rs. 2 lakh.

How many credit cards should I have?

2-3 credit cards is optimal. One for daily spending (cashback card), one for travel/premium benefits, and optionally one for specific rewards (Amazon/Flipkart). More than 4-5 cards becomes hard to manage and track.

Does applying for a credit card affect my credit score?

Each credit card application results in a hard inquiry on your credit report, which temporarily reduces your score by 5-10 points. Multiple applications in a short period look worse. Space out applications by 3-6 months and only apply for cards you're likely to be approved for.
